The Crazies

The first impression i get from this particular poster is a sense of mystery and killer instinct in a human relating to the name of the film, "The Crazies". The use of dull dark colours of the image gives the reader a grim feeling in relation to what events occur in the film it self or give a feeling of no hope and represents death. The background colours allow title "The Crazies" to stand out where the audiences attention will be first brought. The bold red colour use for the title gives the idea of blood and danger which has correlation to pitchfork used in the image which we assume is used for hunting giving from the term, "Grab your pitchforks and torches"  but hunting our own kind would sound inhuman which links back to the title "The Crazies" giving the whole idea of the film a surreal feeling.

The main priority i believe this poster has is the image used in relation to the text, suggesting how humans can become this idea of the being part of "The Crazies" The text is placed at the bottom right of the poster which is different from allot of other posters, however knowing that a person automatically reads from left to right it allows the audience to take in the image and further more ask question about the relation the text has towards the image used. I believe this effect suggest civilisation going corrupt giving the title "The Crazies".

Skeleton Key

This poster instantly draws the audience attention to the centre of the eye, were the pupil would normally be, and creates an image and effect of unlocking someone's mind and inviting the audience into taking a look at the world from some one elses eyes, but alot more can be taken from this image, such as the eyebrows being thick with grey tips and wrinkles we can assume this person is a male figure in the mid ages or even older.

The use of colour in this poster makes it seem very lifeless and there is no use of bright red colours, but this is what may make this poster stand out from others. Again no tag line is used for this poster, but i none is required in my opinion as the audience can take alot from the image what is taken inside the pupil and create an idea from that itself. The use of black used at the top of the eye gives an effect of once entering this world, only death will await as it slowly creeps over you, which is the effect of the drooping blackness in this particular image.

The text used for the title is kept rather simple apart from a keyhole effect used for the centre word "E" again giving the effect of entering a different world through someone elses point of view and this symbol can be easily recognised and allows the story of the film itself, open. And if i comment on the image of what seems a middle ages man sitting in a wheel chair showing that he and whoever were to enter his world would be helpless and allow the audience for feel pity and remorse for the main character.

The Grudge

This poster is rather simple but very effective, It engages the readers attention with the use of the image of "The Grudge" looking directly at the camara. It conveys the horror genre very well as you get the idea of the image being quiete frightning and has a uncomfertable feel about it. I feel the main effect this poster has is not giving to much away, for example it only shows half the face, of what we presume is the main focus of the film  itself which lies behind the broad red and black background to leave a sense of mystery and the audience will want to see more of what the story behind this red sheet of danger and more of the "The Grudge" it self.

The colour scheme instantly grabs the audeince attention as it's the typical red representing danger in which blends in with black representing death which is effectively used for the eye of the image to give the idea of pure evil in the focus of the poster, being "The Grudge". The title placed in the bottom left in black fonted writing seen clearly on the red background gives away the same effect and sticks with the theme colours used. One aspect which this poster does not include is a tag line which is quiete unusual for the particular genre the poster is aimed at, but leaves the audience with the feeling of suspense, "What happens next?"

28 Weeks Later

The main colours used for this poster are particular the red and white which stands out from the blue and black that's in shapes of clouds, background blends really well together which has a very good effect for the image and symbol to stand out from the poster and a clear show of the title of the film itself which is the main purpose of the poster. The image used is also very good towards the purpose of what the poster is trying to achieve as it shows a city behind many people to represent civilisation and it falling apart with use of the bodies lying and the picture of the women, being the main actress and her child as she looks to the sky to show the idea of despiration and the need of hope which is clearly shown through a white outline around the two people another great affect that is used well to match the purpose of the poster. What i particular like most about the colour used for this particular poster is how the dark blue and black blend really well together for the background making the more broader colours and and images stand out from the poster.

The images used in my opinion are a great choice for this particular film as it doesn't give to much away about the film but enough for the audience to get a good idea and allow the use of peoples imagination onto what will occur within the film in effect persuading people into seeing it. Also the outline of white of the main actress kind of puts the audience in the same dilema as what the films story line is and with the effect of the symbol to show an infection which links back to the use of imagination the audience can use that the poster suggests.

The poster also uses text at the top of the poster that links in with the storyline of the film itself and uses different fonts and bold writing in representing this, also the repitition of no used within the text, a good effect to emphisize the demands the film suggest that it will maintain and have the same effect on the audience. The idea for of using repitition for a horror genre film i think has a good effect that may be used for better use than a slogan for the film. Also i would consider including the small print of writing that is used for actors/actresses names and also producers etc. Also having a website and logo of the company that the film is for makes the poster look really proffesional which i would want to include in my own.

Planning for the Year

Research
. Analysis of different horror trailers including them in the blog, as well as different
posters used to take ideas from and film magazine covers, giving reasons in
detail of why we chose the certain aspects and try to create ideas from our analysis.

Planning
. Make many different drafts of posters and magazine film covers using drawings and the computer to get the best design.
. Create different ideas for the story board and give images and information on the   method used through the process.
. Think of different locations that can be used best for the film trailer.
. Give reasons and detail why we chose the final draft of the storyboard, posters and film  magazine cover.

Ancillery 1 - poster
. Were going to share all of our opinions on each of the rough drafts in order to choose the best one suitable for our final design of the poster and think of informatiton that must be considered in a poster and come up with our own concentratiting on the persuasive techniques as well as suitable images to use for the poster.
. Follow a certain theme colour or house colour we can use for the magazine cover aswell as the poster in order to make the trailer easily identified.
. For the purpose of poster i want to show different aspects of horror and consider suitable fonts of writing and images to meet the demands of the theme horror.

Ancillery 2 - Film Magazine Cover
. alot of simularities to the poster design are going to be used for the magazine cover, including creating rough drafts of magazine covers after researching different examples and include more of an insight of the trailer on the cover.
. Consider different photos to use for the cover and layout and also a title for the magazine to make it look more proffesional.
. And again use the same or a simular house colour for the magazine cover and the poster.

Prologue

I believe that the group we agreed to work in will bring out the best in the brief we agreed on out of the choice of five, however we did look at 2 other options as well as the one we have chosen being, A promotion package for a new film. Other briefs we recommended were also "A promotion package for the release of an album" which would include a music promo video, a cover for it's release as part of digipak and a magazine advertisement for the digipak. We also looked at "A short film in it's entirety" which would be a five minute film with a beginning, a middle and a end, a poster for the film itself and also a film magazine review page featuring the film. We analysed into each of the briefs  and discovered that "A promotion package for a new film" would be more of interest and could work for it t the best of our abilities.

Insight of the brief
I believe that the initial ideas each of us had for the film trailer were most creative and i believe we can express our thoughts and debate what would be best to use for the creation of each of the aspects of the brief, which we all agreed would work better than the other briefs we analysed and could be brought together to give a certain structure for a teaser trailer.
